Bio
My name is Rick White. I was born in W. Va., but moved with my family to Kansas in the early 1950's. Most of the males in my family hunted so I had an early interest in it as a child. I was introduced to turkey hunting by an uncle who allowed me to tag along on a hunt in Pa. when I was young. He gave me my first turkey call when I was 9 years old. It was a P.S. Olt F-6 that I still have. As a teen I lost the striker. I made one out of cedar and another from poplar to replace the lost one. I noticed the difference in the sounds between the two woods. You might say that was my introduction to call making and the importance of the materials used for different sounds. I have enjoyed making my own calls and find it very gratifying. I enjoy collecting calls and have a small collection from some of the top call makers.
I have hunted big game in several states plus British Columbia and Alaska. I am an avid bow hunter. I have quail and pheasant hunted with Brittanies for 35 years. I have rode Harleys since 1978 and currently own two. I shot registered trap from 1973 to 1981 achieving 27 yd. and AA status with national and state high average rankings.
My wife Gloria and I have been married for 53 years and have two grown children.
I've been retired for over 20 years as a Teamster in the freight industry.
