Trumpet Calls
When I decided to try my hand at making a good sounding trumpet there were several problems I encountered. First, trumpet call makers were very secretive and reluctant to give any advice or help. Getting a custom reamer was very expensive to have made when you decided on your inside dimensions. After more than 2 years of three different mouthpiece to barrel designs, lengths, barrel designs, and most importantly the inside taper, I found what I was looking for. I received favorable feedback on the sound from some of my peers. I decided to enter one in the NWTF Midwest Callmakers Competition to see how mine stacked up against other trumpets in sound. It received a 4th place award (Honorable Mention).
I am now offering these with a Delrin mouthpiece, lanyard with a bead stop, and lip-stop. I craft my own brass bands for ferrules. My trumpets run about 8 3/4" in O.A.L.
Awards
